Now that NVIDIA has released the RTX 3090, PC gamers can breathe a sigh of relief again for a few years. The PS5 is to go on sale on November 12 (the US and Japan only), 2 days after the Xbox Series X. But they are strictly no match for the new GPUs.
Bottom line is:
If you want to play the best games around, a gaming console will not cut it. The latest games are getting bigger and hungrier, some even slot in 4K DLCs for the ultimate gaming experience. PS5 or Xbox X neither can dole out the necessary graphics at 60 fps. Just why it’s best to invest in an updated gaming PC to enjoy the biggest and largest PC games for the next 2 years at least.
Why are the Best Games So Big?
If you are playing Warzone, do us a favor. Check out the GBs of the game folder. (Coming to it later in this article!)
Think of it this way – What makes a great game?
The simplest answer is – More of everything.
You want at least 100 hours’ worth of content from it, expensive graphics, and a proper gaming engine working underneath.
What’s the catch?
The best games are big!
Just so that the biggest PC games with the largest game file size are often rated as the best games around. That simple!
So, if you want to play the best games, you’re better off upgrading your PC with the latest future-proof gaming hardware than the upcoming PS5 or Xbox X.
You are all set to check out the biggest games ever made. Thank us later!
Infinite Warfare is an experimental tryst for the franchise, and where else to experiment than straight into space. Cool laser cannons, cooler spaceships, et al – Infinity Ward wanted to delve into the unknown and so they did.
A remarkably gratifying campaign, lots of side missions, and some excellently crafted graphics later, you will be left rattled. Infinite Warfare is ‘warfare’ with fast-paced action and difficult combat scenarios (even in Normal difficulty!) There is nothing you can hate about this game. Just make sure to have an open mind while learning low gravity combat movements. Master them or else you are in for a tough ride.
That’s where the brains at IW got it wrong.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is not everyone’s cup of extraterrestrial tea. It is just too refined. At the end of the day, how many gamers would settle in to practice their combat skills in space before taking on a mission? Not many and that is the reality of it.
Play Infinity Warfare if you are willing to put in a few extra hours of gamer’s detention.
A game you can keep on playing just for the sake of it.
Upwards 2,000 people worked on Red Dead Redemption 2. It’samiracle that RDR2 does not have the largest game file size. Take GTA V (Around 80 GB in case you’re wondering why it’s not in this list!), roll back to the cowboy-outlaw era and make it multiple times more intuitive – RDR2 is one of the best video games ever made and not only that it’s one of the graphically demanding as well.
You will surely find Red Dead Redemption 2 on a serious gamer’s played/playing list. The sheer amount of actions/interactions you can perform on this game is what makes this a sandbox epic. It is a world of its own, a small one compared to Assassins Creed: Odyssey, but with endless simulations. You can, in the truest essence of the statement, live the life of an outlaw, in this case, a conscientious one as Arthur Morgan.
RDR2 delivers in epic proportions, worth 80 hours+ for the main storyline and countless more in multi-player. There is perhaps nothing not to like about this game.
That is, unless, you prefer your Fortnite or Warzone Battle Royale!
From movie to game to movie, if you haven’t played as Agent 47, you don’t deserve to play any shooting game at all. Hitman 2, the latest iteration from IO Interactive, lives up to expectations as the best (and the largest game) in the series.
This is what happens when you start giving in to some negative reviews. Subtle adjustments to the 3rd person view (which was never the best), a massively open-world of possibilities, excellently rendered graphics, and better object interaction – Hitman 2 hits the sweet spot again since 2016 rejig.
Consider this the ultimate sandbox gaming experience for assassinations and the likes. From the sun of Miami to the slums of Mumbai, Hitman 2 will take you places, and you will enjoy every detail.
A brand-new set of weapons, an engaging storyline, a memorable finale – no, these are the things you still do not get. Strange. Agent 47 could do well with a few drones and other tactical gear thrown in. The Wolfenstein-like limited ammo and other realism make it difficult unless you have mission guidance on. Yet, this is still not ‘it’.
The best we can say is that Hitman 2 is an improvement. Better graphics and gameplay. In case you do not find it fun enough, it’s just not your thing.
Black Ops opened a whole new gameplay for the CoD franchise, and it cashed in quite successfully. Black Ops III is (arguably) the icing on the cake, the best and the biggest game ever made in the Black Ops side-franchise.
Black Ops III continues to the steady improvement in innovative gameplay additions. Player power-ups are the central pillar to the game and properly entertaining. Add some proper tactics, and you get a co-op/multiplayer mode that’s fast-paced, action-packed, and unabashedly rewarding. Compile a list of the best things a sci-fi fps should have; Black Ops III has most of them in spades.
What’s the catch?
For a 100+ GB game, the single-player campaign will last 15 hours tops, and that’s if you’re not good at fps games. Also, you may not enjoy a replay either. This is one of the few CoD games where you are over-powered and it’s not enjoyable second time out.
CoD: Black of Ops III is a blast-your-way-through sci-fi fps on steroids but the fun’s over way too fast.
Gears of War unlocked a whole new world of shooting games back in 2006. 10 years and 2 upgrades later, Gears of War 4 takes up the mantle. And this game is all about taking the mantle, from the old school to the new cool.
Yes, you get new guns, enemies, abilities, among other things. GoW 4 is a remodel. It is beautiful in every frame. Enemies are uglier and smarter. Multi-player co-op has more fun than before, partly thanks to the updated new Unreal Engine running underneath and partly because your PC is can handle a lot more than what it could have 10 years ago.
At its best, GoW 4 is a nostalgia remastered. It is old wine an expensively crafted new bottle with a bit off a sparkle. There are some innovative new gameplay techniques and surprises along the way. However, you will be left wanting. (Gears of War 5 is not what you would want!)
GoW 4 scores high as a standalone game and even as a sequel to vastly successful gaming trilogy. Worth playing if you love big guns. Let us know when you get a headshot!
The problem with living up to expectations if you’re a 14-game old RPG series is that you never can do it. Final Fantasy XV tries really hard with a lot of content, some of the best RPG graphics yet and it mostly does quite well.
There is no doubt FF XV delivers in graphics and the small attentions to detail. The world is large and gorgeous. We recommend the Windows edition 4K pack to play all 4-character episodes. True as an RPG, the script is utterly wholesome and densely packed with a lot of minutiae. Real-time combat shows off some brilliant animations. Plus, the side missions are handsomely rewarding.
However, why can’t an RPG not be a typical RPG?
Unless you prefer the cliché emo style statements, kiddish real-time combat techniques, anime enemies, and generously clad males, FF XV is only for Final Fantasy gamers.
This maybe the best Final Fantasy to date with the biggest game file size. And that’s all there is to FF XV.
First things first, Microsoft Flight Simulator is not just a video game. It is, but then again, FS 2020 simulates the whole planet by drawing essential data from Bing Maps. How can that be just a video game?
Perhaps the best way to describe FS 2020 is to suddenly get a pilot’s license, a couple of planes, and free fuel to fly across the world. How much details you get to see depends on your graphics card and your PC.
That said, if you do have the necessary computing resources, you get to use Microsoft’s! At ultra-high graphics settings, it is difficult to differentiate between a photo and an FS 2020 screenshot. Bustling cities at 10,000 feet are almost photorealistic. What’s more, the gameplay is a puritan’s heaven, and you can get inspired to try out a pilot’s permit after it (food for thought only!)
FS 2020 is a flight simulator game with a perfectly developed physics engine. It is the biggest game ever made of its kind.
So why is this not the highest selling game yet?
That’s because it’s a simulator true to the very last code. A rigorous introductory training course, 10-minute long runway drive-outs, a hundred ‘crash landings’ later, you may finally get to fly a plane! Question is, are you up for it?
As far as the largest game file sizes are concerned, we are most certainly at the business end. Destiny 2 started at only around 80 GB. But it has doubled up with multiple DLCs since its release. Surprisingly, few complaints about the 165 and counting gigs it takes up in their drives.
Destiny 2 rewards its loyal gamers with a continuous stream of expansions, updates, upgrades, additions and what not. Bungie has excelled in mixing new content with revitalized old content and an overarching storyline that keeps 120,000 players on Steam alone.
There’s always an expansion in the pipeline, another step closer to the omnipresent but unknown foe. Destiny 2 will keep you shooting, modding, chasing, amassing, crafting, new weapons, and armor for hours!
However, by the time you finish a somewhat anti-climactic climax in the campaign mode, you are left with a bevy of mundane activities. Things can slow down and suddenly you may consider not logging on for the day. Just so.
This is where Destiny 2 messes up. Even though it is a foundation for a larger body of work, you wait for the next expansion release. Or just go back to Skyrim again.
Quantum Break will hit you hard and you will lose a track of time, it’s that good. Remedy, the same gaming house that delivered the legendary Max Payne series, delivers a big hurrah with QB, at least for the first hours.
Here is a gameplay scenario for you. Take a shot at your target. Now, pause time and flank the target. With the clock’s still paused, take another shot. And play. This is Quantum Break, a mind-boggling time-bending third-person shooter that will make you go gaga over the awesome gameplay. Spoiler alert, what you do in reality (or is it?) will have threaded consequences with what happens in a live TV show simultaneously running with your actions. The perfect next-gen third-person shooter?
That is just what we were thinking before it all seemed too well-coordinated as the game went on. Quantum Break makes you so lethal that you are almost too good for the game. You get powered up so high in the first half that there is little to play for, other than a well-told story.
Quantum Break could have been so much more than just one of the biggest PC games ever made. Ironically, the largest game file size without any expansion pack will keep you busy for only 12 hours (not a typo.)
The biggest game in the world and the best fps yet.
Modern Warfare 2019 has received varying reviews, with some loyalists considering it the best Call of Duty since ages and some berating the franchise for following the FIFA-like (Or iPhones/iPads) marketing gimmick.
It’s the same storyline with a Russian backdrop in a fictitious Middle Eastern country. But Modern Warfare is just too good. Almost photorealistic graphics, excellent gunplay, and additional gameplay buff-ups make it a grand riposte.
Move beyond single-player and find yourself in perhaps the most addictive online fps world created so far. Grind it out in the Ground Mode or keep it simple in Battle Royale – the online multiplayer mode codenamed Warzone is a runaway hit. So much so that it’s now free to play franchise of itself. Frequent game updates with new maps, customizable weapons, skins, etc. do push the game size well above the 200 GB mark.
We did not mind it though. Just make sure you get a 512 GB SSD if you want to play Warzone for the coming years. This is the largest game file size there is and after a few weeks on multiplayer, you won’t hesitate to add a 100 more if it comes to that. (It will!)
*Note that game file sizes may include base game file size along with additional DLC, extension pack, additional content, 4K pack files, and their respective sizes as well!
The biggest games in the world are big mostly because of the large amount of graphics rendering required to deliver the gameplay. In comparison, CS: GO is still dwindling at 16 GB, with outdated gameplay techniques, textures, and rendering. Yet, it still holds on to a large number of active players. So, bigger is not always better.
However, bigger can mean expensive graphics and an extensive campaign/storyline. E.g. Deus Ex: Mankind, DOTA 2, Halo 5, The Last of Us 2, are great games with file sizes close to 100 GB.
Either way, these are biggest PC games yet and they are pretty good in their own rights!
We’ll keep updating this list!
How many GB is Call of Duty Modern Warfare?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has a base game file size of 200 +GB on PC and just under 200 GB on PS4 and Xbox. Modern Warfare has the largest game file size in the world, and it is one of the highest trending games as well.
What is largest Xbox game?
The largest Xbox game is Gears of War 4 with game file size of around 100 GB stretching up to 120 GB with expansions and DLCs. Halo 5 is also just as large, close to 100 GB of content.
What is the largest PS4 game?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, including Warzone, is the biggest game on PS4. Frequent updates and additions to the base PC game as well as the online game format has had consistently added GBs to MW over the last year. A recent 51 GB update on PS4 has left many gamers scrambling for external PS4 storage options.
How many GB is GTA 5?
GTA 5 is labeled as a 72 GB download for PC on Steam. However, the game file size can reach upwards 90 GB with additional DLCs and other mods or even more.
Is No Man’s Sky the biggest game ever made?
No Man’s Sky is the biggest video game map ever made. Termed as a procedurally generated world, the gaming engine continues generating new worlds as you progress through the game. The in-game world of No Man’s Sky replicates that of the universe, which is to our senses, infinite.
Is Red Dead Redemption 2 the biggest game ever?
RDR2 is not the biggest game ever by either map size or game file size. However, it is often referred to as the biggest game ever and most graphically demanding too, thanks to its expansive gameplay options and features.
Is Red Dead Redemption 2 bigger than Skyrim?
In terms of map size, RDR2 is at least twice larger than that of Skyrim. However, comparing game file sizes, RDR2 easily crosses the 100 GB mark while Skyrim is a modest 12 GB download.
How many GB is Fortnite?
Fortnite clocks in at under 60 GB. But with updates coming in thick and fast, game file size will keep increasing. The current Fortnite Battle Royale game file size for PC downloads 17.5 GB.
