Microsoft will announce the long-rumored Xbox 360 'Elite' edition, featuring a Black 360 console, 120GB hard drive, HDMI output and a $479 price tag, this Wednesday.

With rumours frothing with new information about the 'Elite' over the past week, suggesting an announcement was imminent. Microsoft themselves have remained quiet on the subject, delivering the standard ''we don't respond to rumors or speculation.''

Wired.com blogger Chris Kohler today posted:

''a Microsoft rep emailed this morning to tell me that the Xbox 360 group would be making some 'very exciting announcements' on Wednesday, offering me an interview with Xbox hardware team manager Albert Penello.

Obviously, this isn't 100% confirmation, but I'm pretty comfortable sticking my neck out on this one''
