Argos admit breaking Crackdown street date

20th February 2007
Source: mcvuk.com

UK catalogue retailer Argos has admitted that it has been selling Xbox 360 title Crackdown early. Rival retailers are not happy.

It was reported on forums over the weekend and it was inevitable the 'blunder' would filter through to angry rival retailers. Argos customers ordering online were able to go in to stores and collect the game before it's Friday release. An Argos spokesman told MCV:

''Argos would like to make it clear that it does not endorse breaking street dates and that we have regularly communicated the street date for Crackdown to all our stores to ensure this product is not sold prior to this date.''

''However, on investigation, we have been made aware that there have been a small number of cases where Crackdown has already been sold. This is down to a genuine error and we are currently ensuring that there are no further sales of this product until Friday 23rd February. Crackdown will be made available on the Argos website for reservation or purchase on this date''

''We will be investigating this further and will take appropriate action as necessary to ensure this doesn't happen in the future.''

Review: Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 (360)

Geoms which made there first appearance in Galaxies are back.

Review: Chrono Trigger (SNES)

Chrono Trigger is, quite simply, a masterpiece.

Review: Unreal Tournament (SDC)

So with all these improvements you would expect me to conclude that Unreal Tournament is the better game?

Review: Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit (PS3)

The overriding mood Burst Limit exudes is one of workmanlike averageness.

Review: Soldier Of Fortune (SDC)

Although the interaction between yourself and other people within the game alis, is minor.

Review: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3)

With so much plot to defrag a good quarter of MGS4 feels as much an epilogue to the saga than part of the game in its own right, retooling the relationships of even the most banal bit-characters to add some unneeded extra gravitas.
